Utica's Police K-9's are now a lot safer. Thanks to a generous donation by the Central New York Kennel Club the UPD's two K-9 officers now have bullet proof vests. The UPD's dogs, officers Rex and Jeter now have ballistic vests that are designed to stop both knives and bullets. Lt. Steve Hauck says having the extra protection puts the department at ease. The vests cost Kennel Club between $800 and $1,400 dollars each, a donation they said they were proud to make. Watch Officer Rex get his vest in the video below:
