The Utica City School District will get an additional $100,000 in special state Senate funding.

Senator Joe Griffo says even though the legislature added $1 billion into education spending this year and with the renewed focus on the state aid formula, there are several districts like Utica still left with major gaps.

He says while the amount isn't enough to change the district's overall financial predicament, it will help offset some of the burden that the district is working to fill.

Griffo says he'll continue to work with Utica School officials to meet the needs of the district's growing, diverse student population and keep property taxes in check.
