You can sample the many varieties of the tasty Utica staple, tomato pie, on Tomato Pie Day.

It's happening on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from noon until 4 at the Parkway Rec Center in Utica. The event will feature a number of the most popular pies made in the city including:

• Roma’s Sausage & Deli
• Napoli’s Italian Bakery
• Tony’s of Washington Mills
• Utica Bread
• Charlie’s Pizza
• Oliveri’s Pizza
• Guiseppe’s Bakery

Organizers say there are many others taking part, and it's not too late for your business to participate.

Advance sale tickets are now available for $3, and can be purchased at IloveUtica.com. Tickets purchased at the door will cost $5.

The Utica Zoo Mobile, Utica Comets mascot 'Audie' and a display from the Children's Museum are included in the entertainment for this family friendly event.
