Utica, NY (WIBX) - The New York State Department of Transportation took some time out to update West Utica residents on the North-South Arterial project. Representatives meet with about 50 residents to let them know that the demolition phase of the project will soon be underway.

According to the D.O.T, about 60 structures will need to be torn down to make way for the new roadway, they say about 50% of the residents that occupy those buildings have already been relocated, with the rest being moved out by the end of December. Jim Piccola is a D.O.T Spokesman, he says the construction phase is scheduled to start next Spring.

One building not being demolished right away is the Fay Street warehouse, that's slatted to be torn down in 2014.
