With the help of a sibling, a fifteen-year old was able to struggle free from ropes allegedly tied around the teen's ankles and legs.

The teenager told Utica Police that he tried to fight back as his father approached with the ropes, but he was not able to overpower the father.  Rope was then allegedly pulled around the victim's neck and tightened until the child passed out.  Police say they believe the victim was unconscious for about thirty minutes.

The incident occurred on the 900 block of Mary Street on New Year's Eve.

Following their investigation police have now arrested 32-year old Sar Paw, the teenager's father.  Paw is being charged with second degree strangulation - a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child.
