Morse Slams Nationals Past Santana, Mets
Michael Morse’s fourth-inning grand slam took the lead away from Johan Santana and the Mets, en route to a 6-4 win on Friday night in the nation’s capital.
Bryce Harper also took the left deep for a two-run shot the following inning as the division leading Nations upped their record to 74-45.
Santana (6-9) allowed six runs on seven hits over five innings, marking his fifth start of at least six earned – all losses – as his ERA has ballooned to 4.85.
Ross Detwiler moved to 7-5, allowing three runs over six innings.
Tyler Clippard walked two in the ninth, but got Ruben Tejada to fly out to left to earn save No. 26.
