The Oneida Indian Nation Police Department is being recognized for 20 years of service to nation members and local communities.

The department held a special event at their command center in Canastota today, including a tour of the facility for fellow law enforcement officers.

Among the community partnerships highlighted at the event was the police department's recent flood relief efforts in the city of Oneida.

The Oneida Indian Nation also announced its first Police Charity Golf Tournament to be held on October 7th at the Turning Stone's Shenendoah Golf Course.

The tournament will benefit a memorial fund for law enforcement officers and is open to all local law enforcement agencies.
