Senator Joseph Griffo and Assemblymen Anthony Brindisi and Brian Miller were joined on Wednesday by New Hartford School District Superintendent Robert Nole to announce additional state funding for the district.

Griffo says the school district will receive an increase of over $433,00 in Foundation Aid, which will be recurring funding.

Griffo says the district will also get a one-time special appropriation of $300,000.

Nole says the district has lost more than $21 million in Foundation Aid over the last decade.

He says the additional funding will be used to support programs and opportunities for students, while continuing to support existing educational programming and maintaining traditional class sizes.

Nole says three elementary school teachers will be laid off due to declining enrollment.

The New Hartford School Board adopted a budget on Tuesday night that would increase property taxes by 2.9 percent.
