American Red Cross Aids 27 Displaced by Fire in Herkimer

27 people are homeless following a structure fire in Herkimer Tuesday night. The American Red Cross provided immediate emergency aid after the multi-family apartment went up in flames.

The call came in shortly after 5:45 p.m. Though nobody was killed, Herkimer Police Chief Michael Jory says that a few cats were killed and one dog was worked on by MOVAC.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
