Boilermaker Officials Hold Post Race News Conference
With another Boilermaker in the books, race officials held their post-race news conference on Monday.
Race Director Jim Staistias says they're extremely happy with the way things went.
"It was a fantastic event" said Staistias. "From start to finish, the post-race party, the flyover was timed just perfectly. Everybody had great time, I didn't hear anyone grumbling about anything."
11,535 runners started the 15K race and 11,509 crossed the finish line. 4,205 runners started the 5K, with 4,202 finishing.
Boilermaker Medical Director Dr. John DeTraglia says 96 runners were treated in the medical tent, which was 30 more than last year. He says 12 runners were treated on the course, including a wheelchair competitor who fell from his wheelchair and broke his hip.
DeTraglia says four people were taken to the hospital.
