The Southern Tier Law Enforcement Memorial Association says it’s always important to recognize the work that law enforcement officers do every day but the week is set aside to remember the heroes who have died in the line of duty.

The group, however, quotes Vivian E. Cross: “It is not how these officers died that made them heroes, it is how they lived.”
