Chenango County Juvenile Charged With Arson

A 15-year old has been arrested for allegedly setting fire to two buildings in the Town of Smithville.

The Chenango County Sheriff's Office says one of the buildings set on fire contained about 25 goats and additional livestock, none of which survived.

A member of the McDonough Fire Department was injured while battling one of the fires.

Deputies say another fire was set at the same location.

The juvenile was arraigned on two counts of arson and one count of aggravated cruelty to animals and sent to a juvenile facility.

Deputies have not released the teen's name due to their age.
