Hamilton, NY (WIBX) - Colgate's Peter Baum has been named the winner of the 2012 Tewaarton Trophy, given to college lacrosse's top player.

The Junior attackman led the nation in scoring with 67 goals and 97 points.

Baum led the Raiders to the NCAA Tournament, where they beat UMass before losing to Duke in the quarterfinals.

The Portland, Oregon natve was also named the 2012 Patriot League Player of the Year.

Baum is the first player from west of the Mississippi to win the Tewaarton Award.
