It is almost time for the 68th Annual NYS Woodsmen's Field Days. It is taking place once again at the Boonville-Oneida County Fairgrounds. One of the highlights this year will be the 3rd annual 'Power-Carve Open' Chainsaw Carving Competition. Jon Vincent is the organizer of this year's event and will also be competing. He is also the owner and founder of From the Forest Inc. He first picked up a chainsaw in 2008 and has been mastering the art of carving ever since.

Carvings will be going on Friday and Saturday of the Field Days in the morning at 8:30 a.m. and the afternoon at 1:30 p.m. with quick carves at 3:30 p.m. All of that will lead up to the final morning carve Sunday morning at 9 a.m. with a Masterpiece Carving auction to be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

There are several other events going on as well the weekend of August 20th - 23rd. There will be the latest in forest industry tools, wood crafts, and more. There are also the New York State Open Lumber-Jack Championships and The World's Open Lumber-Jill Championships. There will also be a huge parade, a beard contest, a 10k foot race, a canoe and kayak race, the greased pole climb, fireworks, and so much more. For a full schedule of events visit the Woodsmen's Field Days website.
