BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — A 30-year-old western New York man has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the crash death of a woman who was riding to a wedding with friends.

The Erie County District Attorney's Office says Shane Heisler of Hamburg pleaded guilty Monday to vehicular manslaughter and vehicular assault.

Prosecutors say Heisler was driving his vehicle while high on drugs last July 16 when he veered into oncoming traffic and hit another vehicle in the town of West Seneca.

A husband and wife in the other car and their 71-year-old friend, Barbara Guenther of West Seneca, were injured. Guenther later died. Officials say they were headed to a wedding when the crash occurred.

Heisler is being held in jail pending his sentencing on Dec. 13, when he faces a maximum of five to 15 years in prison.
