Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri has appointed a committee to review the candidates for Utica Fire Chief and Assistant Fire Chief.

The committee will be headed up by former Utica Fire Chief James Barefoot and former Assistant Chief Francis Manfredo.

Civil services exams for the positions were held in January and the City expects to receive the results in the coming weeks.

Palmieri must pick candidates who are in the top three on the list for the respective jobs.

Barefoot and Manfredo will review each candidate's qualifications and participate in the interview process with the Mayor.

"I thank Chief Barefoot and Assistant Chief Manfredo for offering their time and expertise in helping to determine the best candidate(s) to lead the Utica Fire Department into the future." said Palmieri.

Scott Ingersoll is currently serving as Provisional Fire Chief.
