Utica, NY (WIBX) - The Mohawk Valley Chamber of Commerce is voicing its opposition, regarding a proposed Thruway toll hike for trucks with three or more axles.

According to the group, a 45 percent toll increase would make doing business in the state more difficult. The Chamber of Commerce also says an increase in tolls may impact the growth of the area's technological investments.

The New York State Thruway Authority says the toll hikes will help pay for repairs and replacement of the Tappan Zee Bridge.

If the proposed increase is approved, the cost for a three axle truck traveling from Buffalo to New York City would rise from $88 to $127.
