New Erie Canal Trail Section Opening
PATTERSONVILLE, N.Y. (AP) — A new five-mile section of the Erie Canalway Trail is opening in the Mohawk Valley.
A ribbon cutting will be held Wednesday at the Patterson Trailhead to mark the opening of the trail section between Amsterdam and Pattersonville.
The new section fills a gap in the Canalway Trail and is part of the 750-mile Empire State Trail.
The Empire State Trail will eventually span the state from New York City to Canada and from Buffalo to Albany.
