With the heat index expected to be near 100 early this week, the New York State Fair will extend its annual Senior Days to a third day of free attendance for adults age 60 and older.

The third day, Thursday, August 30, is intended to allow seniors to enjoy the traditional free day at the Fair on a day when the heat is expected to be lower.

The National Weather Service predicts temperatures on Tuesday, the second of two Senior Days, to peak at 90 degrees.

“High heat and humidity can be troublesome for everyone, but particularly for seniors. We are happy to offer an extra day of free admission to make sure our senior fairgoers get to enjoy a fun—and safe—day at the Fair,” said Troy Waffner, Acting Fair Director.

The Fair is purchasing additional misting stations to keep all fairgoers cool.

The Fair also reminds people that they can bring water bottles from home and keep them filled for free at water filling stations available in most buildings on the Fairgrounds.
