GOSHEN, N.Y. (AP) — A 51-year-old Hudson Valley woman has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $1 million from the company where she worked.

The Times Herald-Record of Middletown reports that Donna Ortiz pleaded guilty Monday in Orange County Court to first-degree grand larceny. In exchange for the guilty plea, Judge Robert Freehill agreed to cap her sentence at the prosecution's recommended four to 12 years in prison. As part of the deal, Ortiz has to pay back the money she embezzled from July 2009 to December 2015.

Prosecutors say Ortiz stole $1.3 million from Yankee Propane by disguising the thefts as payments to vendors.

Ortiz, who was office manager for Yankee Propane, admitted to diverting the money to bank accounts in her name during more than 100 electronic transfer transactions.
