Captain James Noon has been named the new Assistant Fire Chief with the Utica Fire Department.

Noon has been with the UFD since 2004 and is a Utica Senior Academy and Mohawk Valley Community College graduate.

Newly appointed Chief Scott Ingersoll says Noon's appointment is appropriate because of Noon’s experience as a trainer in the Fire Academy, as well as his track record as a firefighter and a leader.

“He has organizational skills, accounting experience and experience as a training captain,” Ingersoll said. “As we build a culture, we need people that can lead by example and also teach. He’s done both for his entire career.”

“I’m appreciative of the Mayor and Chief Ingersoll for having faith in me,” Noon said. “We’re going to work together to move the Department in the right direction so it’s as safe and efficient as possible.”
