NY Offers Pheasants For Hunts Involving Novices, Others
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York state is offering 2,000 pheasants to groups that sponsor hunts involving young people, women, novices, veterans or people with disabilities.
The state Department of Environmental Conservation annually offers some of the pheasants it raises at its Ithaca game farm for use in so-called sponsored hunts. The aim of the program is to allow qualified groups to offer pheasant hunting in a controlled setting with the help of mentors.
Applications to participate in the program are being accepted until Sept. 1.
Applications can be made to regional wildlife offices.
