Police: 21-Year-Old and Armed Teen Arrested After Chase in Rochester
A police chase led to an arrest in Rochester on Friday.
New York State Police say they tried to stop a driver for an alleged traffic violation at approximately 3:00pm on Friday, March 4, 2022. Police say that when they activated the lights and sirens on their troop car the driver tried to flee.
In a written release the NYSP says, "During the course of the pursuit, a 16-year-old fled on foot. That individual was taken into custody by a state trooper and was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm firearm. The vehicle continued to attempt to flee police and eventually stopped when it traveled down a dead end road in the town of Irondequoit." It is not specified if the 16-year-old fled while the vehicle was in motion.
Police say that the driver, identified as 21-year-old Kyree Malik Baker, was charged with several traffic violations and Obstructing Governmental Administration.
The 16-year-old passenger, whose identity will not be released because of the suspect's age, is bring charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree.
Police say that there was another person in the car. That individual has not been charged with a crime.
Police say their investigation is continuing. Anyone with information that may be helpful to the investigation should call police.
