Washington, DC (WIBX) - It looks like the U.S. Postal Service guessed wrong on the popularity of "The Simpsons" stamps. 

The cash-strapped Postal Service produced a billion stamps commemorating the popular animated TV series.

But they sold fewer than 320-million.

That resulted in a $1.2 million loss for the Postal Service.

As Homer Simpson would say, "D'Oh!"
