Utica, NY (WIBX) - Single Stream--the areas new recycling program, is almost here! William Rabbia, Executive Director of the Oneida Herkimer Solid Waste Authority officially kicked-off the public education campaign to get folks ready for a more convenient recycling experience.

Rabbia says the program is set to start the first week of July. "We've branded it Recycle One, One and Done. And what it will allow residents and businesses to do, is to no longer have to separate their mixed paper group from their mixed container group. They can now mix both of those recycling groups together in one single stream. We ask them to use their current recycling bin, if they have them," Rabbia said. He added that residents can also use a container of their choice, as long as it's 35-gallons or less and says the simple rule is, you mix all your recyclables together without bagging them---unless it's shredded office paper--a precaution to deter identity theft.

Rabbia says in the long run--the program will help stabilize recycling rates for everyone.
