Utica Council To Meet To Discuss Fire Department Cuts
Utica, NY (WIBX) - A special Utica Common Council meeting will be held tomorrow to discuss cuts to the Utica Fire Department.
Chief Russ Brooks says he'll sit down with council members to try and modify the restructuring plan to lessen the impact of the cuts on the fire department.
Under the budget passed by the council last week, the UFD will loose 12 members.
Brooks says that means the fire department will have to close a fire house, resulting in longer response times.
The meeting will be held tomorrow evening at 5:30 in the Common Council Chambers at City Hall.
Brooks was a guest on this morning's First Look Program on WIBX.
