3 Teens Injured in High Speed Crash Along State Route 3
A total of four people including three teenagers were sent to the hospital after a driver illegally passed several others along a state route in Upstate New York.
New York State Police say 20-year-old Nathanial Hunter of Brownville, NY was driving northbound on State Route 3 and passed several vehicles in a no passing zone while traveling at a high rate of speed. Hunter's vehicle would crash into the driver side door of another vehicle also traveling in the same direction, that was making a left hand turn onto Hager Road.
The second vehicle, a Chevy Prizm, they struck a telephone pole.
Hunter was not injured, police said. However, four occupants in the second vehicle would be sent to the hospital - the driver, 64-year-old Rodney West of Oswego, along with three teens between the ages of 18 and 14, police said.
The accident happened on Father's Day at about 3:45 p.m.
Troopers said none of the injuries are considered life-threatening.
While investigators said the believed Hunter was accelerating past motorists in a no-passing zone, thus far no tickets have been issued and the investigation is continuing, police said.
