Two young children who were the subject of an Amber Alert on Christmas Eve are now in the custody of Tompkins County Social Services after they were found unharmed later in the day on Wednesday.

A Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit bus driver's awareness of the recently issued Amber Alert helped authorities track down the kids and their father.

The children, two- and four-years old, were discovered on a TCAT bus on the campus of Cornell University with their father, 38-year old Leonard Thorne, the Ithaca Journal reports:

A TCAT bus driver identified Thorne from the AMBER Alert, and the driver held the bus on Cornell University's campus while area police converged on the area, a TCAT news release said.

The children were reported missing on Tuesday.

Thorne was recently stripped of his custody rights due to allegations of substance abuse and child neglect, the Ithaca Journal reports.
