Arrest Made In Brinckerhoff Avenue Shooting

Utica Police have made an arrest in a May 21st shooting that happened on the 1400 block of Brinckerhoff Avenue.

18-year old Lloyd Durant of Utica is charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm.

Police say Durant was walking along Brinckerhoff Ave with 21-year old Mohamedamin Hayder when an altercation ensued with another group of individuals.

They say during the altercation, Durant displayed a handgun, inadvertently shot Hayder in the pelvis area and then fled the scene

There were no other injuries.
