Arrest Made in Connection to December Ilion Home Invasion
An arrest has been made in connection to a December 7th, 2016 home invasion that resulted in the shooting death of an armed intruder.
Following a two-month long investigation the Village of Ilion Police Department has arrested 42-year-old James Pugliese Jr. of Utica. The accused has been charged with Robbery in the first degree and Burglary in the first degree.
This particular investigation stemmed from a home invasion that occurred on Richfield Street in Ilion last December. 24-year-old Dasean Chastine was shot and killed by the home owner, James Richards, in self-defense.
Pugliese was arraigned in the Village of Ilion Court and has been remanded to the Herkimer County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 cash or $200,000 bond.
The Village of Ilion Police Department was assisted by The New York State Police, the Utica Police Department and their Crime Analysis Center, N.Y.S.I.C (New York State Information Center), the Oneida County Sheriff's Department, and the Herkimer County District Attorney's Office.
