A Rome woman who had reported she was the victim of a strong armed robbery has been arrested.

Rome Police have charged 52-year old Malissa Allen with falsely reporting an incident.

Allen claimed a man forcibly stole her purse, which contained a small amount of cash and prescription medication, as she exited a pharmacy on Black River Boulevard on March 31st.

An investigation revealed that Allen allegedly schemed with others to set up the fake robbery so she could use the incident to obtain a replacement prescription from her doctor.

Police say the investigation is continuing and more arrests are possible.
