A Durhamville man has been charged following a lengthy investigation into the shooting of a privately owned horse named 'Jak' on Kirkland Ave in the town of Kirkland in late December.

The bizarre and apparently random shooting occurred midday on December 29, 2015. Police reported at the time of the incident :

The Dodge Avenger then pulled to the opposite side of the road and discharged a round from a long gun from inside of the vehicle. When the suspect shot the long gun, he shot the horse killing it.

Robert Webster Jr, age 43, faces felony charges of criminal mischief, aggravated cruelty to animals and a misdemeanor charge of reckless endangerment. Webster was taken into custody without incident, police said. He was remanded to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond. Webster is due back to the Town of Kirkland Court later this month.
