The race may be about eight months away, but it's not too early to be thinking about the 2018 Boilermaker.

Race officials announced today that registration for the race will get underway in early March.

Race Director Jim Stasaitis says early access registration will begin on March 8th at noon.

Stasaitis says open registration will start on March 17th and will continue until the caps for each race are reached.  He says the caps will remain the same at 14,500 for the 15K and 4,500 runners for the 5K race.

Officials also announced that Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield will the presenting sponsor for the 15K race.

“As the area’s largest health insurer, the decision to forge an even stronger partnership with our region’s largest and most celebrated health and wellness-related event was a no-brainer,” said Excellus BlueCross BlueShield Regional President, Eve Van de Wal.

The 2018 Boilermaker logo was also unveiled.  It was designed by Boilermaker intern Ben Keeler, who is the son of WIBX's Bill Keeler.

The 41st running of the Boilermaker will take place on Sunday, July 8th.
