Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon is teaming up with the Utica Comets and the Utica City Football Club for a Winter Accessories Drive.

The drive will run through Tuesday, December 3rd and will provide children and young adults with necessary winter items like hats, gloves and scarves.

Buttenschon will be at the Comets home opener on Wednesday night to collect donations.

"As winter approaches, it's important to recognize that many hardworking families struggle to provide their children with essential items for the bitter cold we experience in upstate New York," said Buttenschon. "Parents shouldn't have to choose between any one necessity over another, and my drive will help more local children stay warm during the winter. Drives like this one bring the greater Mohawk Valley community together, looking out for residents in need."

New items can be brought to the Assemblywoman's district office located at 207 Genesee St in Utica.

Other drop-off locations include the Adirondack Bank Center, the Dunham Public Library, Floyd Town Hall, Frankfort Town Hall, Jervis Public Library, Marcy Town Hall, Mohawk Valley Community College Rome and Utica campuses and the Whitesboro Village Board Office.

The items will be donated to the Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency, The Center and Upstate Cerebral Palsy.
