A fire on Dudley Avenue in Utica that claimed the life of a 6-month-old girl old has been ruled accidental.

Authorities say the fire was started when children in the house playing with matches lit a bed on fire.

Fire Chief Russ Brooks thanked the Utica Police Department, Mayor Palmieri, and Councilman Jerome McKinsey for their help during and after the fire.

The parents and four siblings of the girl were all able to escape the fire physically unharmed.
