Coast Guards Warns People To Stay Off Lake Champlain
BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — The Coast Guard is warning people to stay off Lake Champlain as the ice starts to melt in the warmer weather.
Officials say while ice may look safe it's hard to determine its thickness visually. The Coast Guard says even in a small area the ice thickness can vary and people or heavy objects are susceptible to falling through.
The forecast is calling for temperatures in the upper 30s in Burlington on Monday with temperatures climbing into the 40s and 50s later in the week.
