Documents Show How White House Defended Clinton
WASHINGTON (AP) — New documents from the National Archives show that the Clinton White House made a public push to defend President Bill Clinton during several investigations.
The documents are part of 10,000 pages of records released Friday from the Clinton administration. They do not appear to reveal any new information that might affect a potential Hillary Rodham Clinton presidential campaign.
Many records involving White House intern Monica Lewinsky are redacted, but the documents show how Clinton's advisers defended the president during the probe into his affair with Lewinsky as well as the Whitewater real estate deal.
The National Archives has released about 30,000 pages of Clinton administration papers since February.
Both the Obama White House and the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Arkansas, have signed off on their release.
