Fatal Crash in Oswego, Driver Killed and Passenger Seriously Injured
A Virginia man travelling through Oswego was killed in a crash over the Memorial Day weekend.
28-Year old Dennis J. Malone was driving his 2013 Ford Fusion west on Hall Road when he is said to have lost control of his car, veering off the road and hitting a tree at approximately 8:11pm on Sunday, May 25, 2014.
Malone, who is from Hampton, Virginia, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 58-year old David Cole of Hannibal, New York, was ejected from the car. He suffered internal injuries and was taken by Medivac to Upstate University Medical Center in Syracuse.
The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is still investigating the accident. Troopers say their initial findings indicate that speed played a role in the crash. Neither crash victim was wearing a seatbelt at the time.
