Feds: Western NY Cop Cyberstalked Ex-Girlfriend For A Year

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — A western New York police officer has been arrested on federal charges alleging he waged a year-long cyberstalking campaign against his ex-girlfriend.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Rochester says 50-year-old William Rosica, of Irondequoit (uh-RAHN'-duh-kwoyt), was arrested this week and charged with stalking and unlawful access to a protected computer.

Prosecutors say Rosica's girlfriend ended their three-year relationship in February 2016. Authorities say the following month, Rosica began harassing and tormenting the woman with a barrage of text messages, phone calls and emails. Officials say he also contacted the woman's ex-boyfriend and co-workers.

Rosica is in custody pending a detention hearing Friday morning.

A message left with his attorney's law firm seeking comment wasn't immediately returned.

Officials in the town of Irondequoit say Rosica will be placed on unpaid administrative leave.
