ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a pedestrian has died after being hit on a Rochester street by a vehicle driven by a man who was drunk behind the wheel.

Officers say a man was walking at the intersection of Atlantic and Coventry avenues around 2 a.m. Monday when he was hit by a car driven by a 27-year-old man from Irondequoit.

Police say the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. His name hasn't been released.

The driver was charged with driving while intoxicated. Police say additional charges are pending. He's scheduled for arraignment in Rochester City Court on Monday morning.
