Firefighter And EMT Of The Year Awarded

Utica Post 229 honored the Firefighter and EMT of the year during ceremonies last night.
Deputy Chief Mark Ambrose was awarded Firefighter of the year and Lt. Dominick Meyers was named EMT of the year.

Ambrose and Meyers were both instrumental in saving the life of a 4 year old child from a fire at Andrean Terrace Apartments in February.

Fire Chief Russell Brooks said the awards reflect on the entire Fire Department and it is a great honor for both men.

Brooks added that Meyers was the "go to guy" in the back of the ambulance during transport of the four year old.
