Former Microsoft CEO To Buy Los Angeles Clippers
The Los Angeles Times and ESPN.com are reporting that former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer will be the next owner of the Los Angeles Clippers.
Ballmer has reportedly submitted a winning bid of $2 billion, beating out bids from groups led by David Geffen ($1.6 billion) and L.A. investors Tony Ressler and Steve Karsh ($1.2 billion).
The $2 billion price will be the second most ever paid for a North American Sports team and the most for an NBA team since the Milwaukee Bucks were bought for $550 million earlier this year.
Ballmer was CEO of Microsoft from 2000 until this year, and reportedly has a net-worth of $20 billion.
