Former Racer And Local Business Owner Phil Burkart Senior Is Dead

Phil Burkart, Senior, known locally for drag racing and as the former owner of Burkart Automotive, is dead.

Burkart died overnight.  The family is making funeral arrangements and we will post these as soon as they are available.

Phil Burkart, Senior, raced at many tracks in the area, including the former Utica Rome Dragway. Burkart's son, Phil Burkart, Jr. is a National Hot Rod Association Funny Car racing champion.
