Funding To Help Military Assets Included In New State Budget
The 2018-19 state budget includes $3 million dollars to strengthen and keep military facilities in New York State.
Senator Joseph Griffo and Assemblymen Anthony Brindisi and Brian Miller say the funding will help safeguard the region and the state’s military assets from possible funding cuts in the future.
The money will help strengthen and retain the Air Force Research Lab, the Defense Finance and Accounting Services Office and the Eastern Air Defense Sector at the Griffiss Business and Technology Park in Rome.
During my time in public office, I have staunchly defended the military assets throughout our region and made sure that we pay close attention to the impact these assets have on our community and region,” Griffo said. “These entities are major employers in the community and play a major role in boosting the local economy. This funding will help us protect jobs in the Mohawk Valley and safeguard local military assets.”
“For many years, these agencies have been nationally known for the work their valuable employees do, developing advanced technology for communications; ensuring safe travel for airline passengers, and ensuring that members of the military are compensated,” Brindisi said. “It is vitally important that these federal installations continue to play a major role expanding our region’s economy—and strengthening our nation’s defense. This funding helps safeguard these facilities and the hundreds of people who work there.”
