A weekend house fire that killed the home's resident now appears to have been intentionally set.

Results of an autopsy performed at Lourdes Hospital indicate that the victim set fire to the home and then shot himself.  He then died of smoke inhalation.

The fire took place at 209 Joslyn Road in the Town of Guilford on Sunday, June 23, 2013.

Chenango County Sheriffs are awaiting the results of dental examination records to positively identify the victim.

The Guilford Fire Department and Oxford Fire Department assisted at the scene.

(Note: It is standard practice for news organizations to not release the names of suicide victims, with few exceptions.)
