Here's a humble first responder who has worn every hat at the fire hall during his half-decade of service.

Meet Karl Rauscher

Karl has been a lifetime resident of Lewis County and is celebrating his 50th year as a member of West Leyden Fire Dept. He's still active as a firefighter and EMT, always quick to respond to any call in the blink of an eye.

What Karl's fellow firefighters like the most about him is his wisdom and dedication. It's no simple task putting on that gear, but he's always been committed to serving and protecting his community year-after-year. Age is just a number to Karl.

Now you might actually recognize the name Rauscher. That's because Karl actually owns and operates Bert-Elm Dairy Farm in West Leyden. He does so alongside his wife Carol Ann and sons Thomas, Ryan ,and Michael.
