The roads are expected to be crowded this Labor Day weekend.

Ed Welsh of AAA Central New York says nearly 35 million people will be traveling this upcoming holiday weekend.

Welsh says 86% of Labor Day travel will be by car this year.

He say that's an increase of 1.4% over last year and represents the second highest volume we've seen since 2003.

Welsh says gas prices are about 20 cents a gallon cheaper than they were last year at this time.

The current average price in the Utica-Rome market is $3.68 a gallon.
