Lockheed Martin Plans Job Cuts
Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]Lockheed Martin is looking to cut around 1,500 jobs.
The company is offering voluntary layoffs to workers throughout the system, including in Owego, before it puts out pink slips to meet its staff reduction target.
Lockheed Martin Mission Systems and Training has about 4,500 workers that are eligible for the voluntary layoff program.
The company had no projected numbers for how many people in Owego could be affected.
Lockheed says it needs to make the cuts in order to remain competitive and meet its customers’ needs.
