Man Charged with Hitting Another with Handle of Machete in Utica

A Utica man is in custody after police say he pulled out a machete during a fight with another man on Friday.

Fifty-one-year-old Larry Jones allegedly used the knife's handle to hit another man in the face.  The victim was later hospitalized for treatment for an eye injury.

Jones was taken into custody by Utica Police and charged with the following:

• menacing in the first degree (felony)
• criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree (felony)
• harassment in the second degree

The incident took place at the corner of Kemble Street and Hobart Street on May 1, 2015.

Jones may face additional charges pending further investigation.
