Man Receives 20 Year Sentence For Killing Norwich Girl
NORWICH, N.Y. (AP) — One of two men charged in the attempted rape and killing of an 11-year-old girl in New York has been sentenced to 20 years to life in prison.
Tobias Rundstrom-Wooding was sentenced Monday after he pleaded guilty in June to felony murder and rape.
Investigators say the 34-year-old Rundstrom-Wooding and 36-year-old James Brower smothered Jacelyn O'Connor during a rape attempt at their home in Norwich in Chenango County.
Police were called to the home for a report of a girl in cardiac arrest in July 2017 and found the child dead.
Prosecutors say Jacelyn was the half-sister of Brower's sons, and she was staying at the home.
Rundstrom-Wooding declined to comment during his hearing Monday.
Brower is expected to go to trial in 2019 on a charge of second-degree murder.
